Sangju beach is where we stayed for 3 days and ofcourse I had to make some mandatory beach shots! I did get sunburn on the last day from staying on the beach from 11am-4pm because not only was I sun tanning- I also did 3 watersports! I tried Stand up Paddle boat (SUP) and managed to get myself to the middle of the ocean without falling. I was pleasantly surprised because I saw some people didn't manage to stand up past the waves close to shore. I guess all my previous kayak and canoe experiences paid off? I also did kayak, and banana boat jet ski! That's where 5 of us get on a skinny banana looking boat and hold on to our dear lives attached to a jet ski going at an insane speed around the island waters. It was so fast that 3 of us fell off in the middle of the ocean and I got a rope burn and giant bruise. That was definitely a nice experience despite the fall. Overall, the experiences I had on this island is definitely something to remember.
On day 1, we hiked up the Boriam temple which is built at the edge of a mountain. Since i was Budhha's birthday, there were SO much people and took 2 buses to get up there as well as 30 min of hiking. I guess..the view of worth it? Than, we were off to the rice terraces which was so beyond my expectations! It was like a dream- with the amazing weather, turquoise waters and lush green terraces along with colourful houses. Namhae really is a "treasure island" as tour sites claim, it doesn't have as much people and traffic as other beaches like in Busan and everything is very clean and beautiful.
Last weekend me and my friends took advantage of the long weekend to go to Namhae Island for 3 days! The first day we went to the garlic and beef festival, which had tons of onions, festivities and food. We even found some lake paddle boarding thing! At night we set off "lantern balloons" and a giant fire lantern than ended the festival with a load of people dancing to drums. Koreans have a festival for every little thing, it is both entertaining and strange!
Went to Busan's Gamcheon village this Saturday, which is a artistic and very colourful part of Busan that attracts a lot of locals and tourists. There were tents everywhere selling crafts, food etc. and it was bustling with people. We took a taxi only a few hundred meters away from the subway, than walked all around and took many pictures! Everything was so artsy, contrasted, full of art from the walls to the picturesque little walkways between buildings that reminded me of little villages in Europe. Busan was slightly more chilly than Daegu, which is always so hot these days. Than at night we went to Jalgachi market for some seafood dinner and some shopping to end the day. I got home past midnight..what a long but eventful day!
